Mankombu Sree Bhagavathy and Shiva Temple

Mankombu, which is situated under the Illickakal Mountains, is a place of great beauty. The mountain peak can be seen from Poonjar. There are three temples in Mankombu. The Bhagavathy temple stands on the foothills of the mountains. A few steps below, is a rivulet where a Vana Durga idol is installed. In 2016, a Shivalinga was noticed on a platform next to the sanctum sanctorum of the goddess. After subsequent consultations with astrologers, it was found that a Shiva temple had to be built on the same grounds. Construction commenced immediately by the members of the Poonjar royal family and in 2017, a Shivalinga was installed in a new temple built adjacent to the existing one. The Patham Udayam festival is celebrated here with great ceremony and reverence. There is a shrine with separate rituals and daily pooja for Ayappa in the same premises.
